What processor to buy for Fusion rendering?.

Hi,

I am between two proecessors the 9900k and the 3900x. I know that the 3900x have 12 cores vs 8, but I don't know how it works in fusion 360 as I don't have any benchmark. Will the 3900x be a lot faster in Fusion rendering?.

Or, you meant the I need to add the 3700 into the list?

Sorry, I'll add 3700x right now!

The 3700x is slightly better than the 8700.

Hi all,

I have created a scene for us to test rendering speed, the ilumination is not the best.. but anyone could change it if they want.

Here is the scene: https://a360.co/2Q7j6oJ

I have an old Intel quad core, rendering is to slow I am uprgrading to a ryzen 3950x or 3960x. the idea is if anyone is threre willing to test the performance in render viewport or image rendering. Let me know your thoughts.

My Mac Pro 5,1 with the Dual 6 core chips has an effective 24 processor bank and every one of those puppies goes hot on rendering so im pretty sure it does do hyper threading.

I can't seem to down load that scene, but if you share link I can try it on my new MacBook Pro.

if I ever get the Mac Pro 5,1 back in business I can rip it on there too.

Hi, thanks

let me know if this link works: https://a360.co/2WffDIT

Download as fusion 360 file. You also have an option at the top right "Open in Fusion 360"

I will test it my self with a with an intel q8200 old Cpu.

try a 1920 x 1080 render image render quality set to Final. So anyone could make the same.

so is 24 cores 48 threads? 4 Cpu's of 6 cores? what year is the model?

Takes me 84 minutes to render with my Intel Q8200 cpu 4 cores 4 threads 2.33ghz,  4gb of ram. Render settings: 1920px by 1080 px. Quality set to Final.

Would be good if someone or Autodesk could make a graphic program like cinebench.

Fusion doesn’t support hyper-threading and a CPU single-core speed is much more important than the number of cores! Even thou some operations are multi-core; e.g. Shell, Thicken, Interference Detection, Rendering and there are a few more. The speed per core will be a bigger advantage.

Which is why I created tesreg.com.

Yes I am testing rendering here, It would be nice to have a rendering graphic benchmark too like cinebench that you could see the render in the window. I upload a scene to compare to any who wants. Blender community did the same they created a scene, Bmw, to test speed.

There are 3 tests in tesreg.com - Open file, FPS and Render.
The test file has been chosen carefully, it is not too complex and not too simple as well. There are also instructions on how to use the table, how to read the comparisons and what things you need to take into account in real life.
It will give you a good indication of what to expect if you choose CPU A or CPU B, and you could also add prices as well 😉
As soon as I have enough data, I'll also add more visual graphs. If something is not working for you, then please let me know!

Hi,

Have you tested 3900x or 3960x in render?. I am referring to a graphic window where you could see the render in progressive refinement like in cinebench. Which processor do you have?.

Hi,

Here is the speed test of the 3900x in rendering.

https://youtu.be/qGiKJZd4kV4

Does anyone have 9900k, 10900x or any similar Intel chip to make a video of this simple render?.
