What is the benefit of cloud rendering?

I used 4 cloud rendering credits to render a part. It took 4 minutes and the result was nothing any more spectacular than just viewing the model on my computer. I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that there would be enhanced rendering quality using ray tracing and/or more complex textures (3d wood textures please!!!)

Can anyone shed light on this?

I know that size is one advantage of the interactive cloud rendering service. For the in-product rendering workspace, you can only render as large as your screen will let you. The interactive rendering will allow you to create larger visualizations.

There are some other tools that are available in the Interactive rendering that are not available in the in product workspace in Fusion 360.

  • More Camera Controls: Depth of Field & Field of View
  • More Environments (lighting)

You also don't need to have Fusion 360 installed or use your computer's resources to do the renderings. This will save laptop user's from warm laps and loud fans.

Some additional material on this the Fusion 360 rendering can be found on the Autodesk University Website in the below links.

I hope that helps!

Thanks,

Thanks, Nathan. I appreciate the concise reply. Are we able to do ray-tracing with interactive cloud rendering?

Also, I urge you all to consider allowing rendering credits to be applied to finite element analysis calculations directly from the program. Set up your analysis and click "cloud" and let it crunch the numbers on a complex assembly in the background, providing you with a report when it's done.
