What does the work geometry filter do in my selection tab?

I have attempted to turn off the work geometry selection at the very bottom of my selection list and I'm uncertain what this selection does.   Can someone please help me out with this?

Work Geometry refers to construction planes, axes, and points.  So, with this filter off, you would not be able to select a work/construction plane.  Which would limit you from selecting origin planes when, for instance, creating a sketch.
