Version Error(s) What is next for me today?

All of the sudden, my model changed to an older version (new version number, just old geometry).  I noticed all of my operations (CAM) were in need of regeneration.  I was trying to figure out why when I realised some features looked like the were from an old version.  This happened yesterday and I thought I must have done something wrong.  Earlier I had to promote an old version to recover from this same issue.  I probably have to do this again, but why is this happening?

Has anyone else noticed old versions becoming current all by themselves?

Could this be related to today's cloud outage?  I don't think so becasue it happened yesterday too, unless it was this morning.  Can't remember for sure.

I have three files all interdependent and this has all the paths all screwed up.  Operations can't regenerate becasue geometry had changed.  I've saved the files before noticing what happened.  I beleive I now have a puzzle on my hand.

After this morning's mess, ten hours later and I am still not done with my two hours of work.  I am SO MAD, fire is coming from my eyes...really.

When you promote an old version, a new version of the file is generated with a new version number.  For example if I have versions 1 and 2 saved to A360 and promote version 1, version 3 is created but the design will be a duplicate of version 1. You may want to try looking at the previous versions and makes sure that your design is not disguised as an older version. You should be able to promote the last couple of versions and open them to find out.

Another thing that may be helpful is to review the app log files and see what version was saved when. You can use the diagnostic log files command from the help menu to gather your log files. In the Autodesk Fusion 360 folder, you will find applog files that will record when a version is saved and synced. Using this data, you may be able to determine which version you're looking for based upon when the file was saved.

If you'd like some help, feel free to e-mail me the app log files with the name and approximate time that you saved the version you're looking for. I'm happy to take a closer look and offer further advice. You may e-mail Nathan DOT Chandler AT Autodesk DOT Com. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

@innovatenate, Thanks for the tips.  I do understand how the versions and promotion works, but I've never used it.  I've always let versions do what they do, but I've never had to use them.  All of the sudden, twice in a day or so, old versions are apparently promoted either by accident or on their own.  This is very strange.  Could it be something I did?  Yes, but it is unlikely because I am not messing around with versions purposefully, ever.  Is there an easy way to accidentally promote a version?

I recovered my work by going back just one version...again, but this doesn't feel right.  Something is wrong.  Ten months of Fusion, never a version problem.  One day, two instances, same set of files.  I'll pay better attention going forward, and let's see if anybody else runs into this.

Thanks for your help.
