Using shell on body with holes

I have created a sketch which contains circles inside the outer circle (just imagine having a big round circle as a face and three smaller circles inside for eyes and a mouth).

Then I Exctruded the sketch by 10 mm getting a fine face with two eyes and a mouth (holes).

Next I want to Shell the object to 1 mm but my issue is that the holes still goes all the way through the body with a 1 mm edge. What I want is that the edges of the holes does not appear. Is that possible to achieve by using the Shell feature or should I instead create a smaller circle covering all of the inside which I want to cut out?

I believe you are looking for what I did in the video.  Your order of extrusion is what is getting you in trouble.  I have attached the model I used in the video.

Thank you jhackney1972!

This was exactly what I wanted to achieve! And thank you for taking the time, making a video of how to do it - very much appreciated!
