Using one profile for many sweeps in fusion?

Hello, I'm learning my way around fusion, and i was hoping to get some advice.

Is it possible to use one profile for multiple sweeps? I am designing something that will be constructed out of square tubing, but i am not entirely certain of the dimensions of the tube that will be available. What i have done so far is to make different paths then sketch the profile of the tube and reference 3 variables for height, width, and wall thickness to make it easy to alter, but having to repeat the profile sketch over and over for every new path i want to sweep seems inefficient.

I would guess there is an easy solution.

thanks for the advice.

A side question. So far i have not yet found a robust tutorial series to really get familiar with Fusion, Lynda.com style, what is the best resource out there for getting a solid grasp on the ins and outs of Fusion?

Hello Jayden,

Next to the sketches in the browser there is a lightbulb, when a sketch is consumed the bulb goes out, click on the bulb to see your sketch again and reuse with other sweep paths.

Fusion 360 on you tube is a good resource.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Ludo

Thanks for your help!

Ok, i figured that the solution would be along those lines.

Follow up questions, when i do that, i need to make the path sketch alongside the profile sketch then move the new body after the sweep, correct?

I can't make my path where i want my new body, then in the sweep dialogue reference a profile that is not in contact with the path or is there a way to change that?

verry greatful for sucha  quick response!

Hello Jayden,

Moving the new body is a way of doing this, for quickly checking out some designs this will work OK! If you want to test different profiles, each will need a sketch.

The Sweep command will come back with a warning if the path is not connected to the profile, it is a good practice to connect profile and path. I think some paths will work even when not connected.

Thanks for the advice!  I did some sweeping all my new bodies at the origin with the same profile then move them to place.

As i recall 3DSMax let you use a profile with a path regardless of the position to eachother.

I hoped that there would be a similar option in Fusion, but building at origin then moving works just fine.

thanks again,
