Using coorddinate axis for symmetry constraint

Hi,

I've noticed, that Fusion 360 doesn't allow using coordinate axis when creating symmetry constraint in sketch. Other CAD Tools, for example FreeCAD allow this. This made me wonder, what's the reason for this limitation in Fusion 360?

Is using axis for symmetry constraint bad design practice?

Or is it simply caused by limitation of 3d editing/rendering engine used by Fusion 360?

please show what your are talking about.

It works for me.

It's just a limitation in Fusion, the sketch axis in fusion are just visual, not real geometry. You'll just have to create a construction line yourself.

Hi @urban.novak7BLW5

I can see we can use coordinate axis to create symmetry.

If this is not something you are looking for, then, can you please capture the problem in a screencast video and attach here to the next reply?

@dsouzasujay  This only works if the origin is visible and the sketch origin is in the same place as the document\component origin.

You can project the document axis or plane into the sketch or auto project while adding a constraint.

But if the sketch origin is in a different place the sketch axis lines are just visual and not selectable,

Thanks everyone. The reason why I was not able to use axis for symmetry constraint was that Origin (including axis)  was hidden in component tree.

I've also stumbled upon previous answer about this issue, which contains incorrect/outdated answer.
