User Parameters - List of Excepted Characters

From time to time I find that certain letters, or combinations of letters cannot be used in the name of a user added parameter. An example would be the letter, "c."

I have looked for a file that outlines which characters cannot be used, and what they are reserved for, but I have not been able to find a source.

Does anyone have a link to this information?

Thank You!

I'd have to look up the exact set of prohibited characters in a user parameter, but "c" is only prohibited if it is used by itself, or with another character that could be interpreted as a unit string.  "c" is used  as a modifier in metric units such as "cm", so it is not allowed.  Similarly "m" is not allowed by itself.

Jeff,

Thank you for the reply.  That makes sense, and I was thinking that was the reasoning for the prohibited letters.

Can you provide the list of allowed characters?

btw, I find myself often challenged with how to name my parameters because of the limited characters.  The fact that I can't include fractions (the slash symbol) nor start a name with a numeral is very frustrating.
