User Parameters have become much more difficult to use

It seems putting User Parameters in dimensions has become much more difficult. I used to just type their name. Now there's a completion menu that appears, but if I try to just finish typing the name, F360 doesn't recognize it as a parameter. It requires that I select the parameter from the menu.

On top of that, if I hit the wrong key (which seems to be any key other than a letter key), it gives up and closes editing the dimension, leaving in place whatever was there before.

It's become very difficult to use.

This is very data dependent. Can you share a design that shows this problem so we can test it? Or at least a screen shot of your user parameters, providing that none of it is proprietary.

Here's the public link to a design: http://a360.co/2h3wsBn

And a screencast: https://youtu.be/JhmCkP5Wiek

This is definitely a regression - I would have noticed this before.

Yeah, this is exactly the behavior I see, but it also happens on my MacBook Pro's built-in display, whether or not I have a second monitor attached.

This is under investigation for a fix, thanks for the help. Your contribution helped me reproduce it. Between that and the other known cases we are confident we can track and fix this. It's not an easy one to find, reproduce, or fix.

I know you guys see it a lot, but for us, if we could see it so easily - it would never make it out the door.

Thanks, @Phil.E. There's another related issue, if you hit backspace/delete in an effort to correct a typo, if you get the timing right, it'll exit out of the creation of the sketch primitive.

I would suggest that (at least on the Mac), delete NEVER be used as a key for ending an operation.

⁣Yes, you can see this happen at one point in the screencast I posted.

@JetForMe

Great observation. In Mac the 'delete' key will commit commands. Usually this is reserved for 'return' or 'enter'. I logged it as related to the original problem. The "hotkey" firing in this case is (delete = enter). No wonder this has been confusing to diagnose! Great catch.

We are still working on a fix for this.

There is a workaround, click once in the canvas.

Here is an example to show you how it works:

1. New Fusion file
2. Create a custom parameter and call it "ledmodel" (without the quotes)
3. Sketch a rectangle by dragging, no text input.
4. Dimension one of the sides (after finishing rectangle command)
5. Double click the dimension to edit it
6. Click in canvas once (key step)

So after step #5 you click the canvas once, the bug doesn't happen (the dimension HUD flashes briefly but it gets focus again). It will not interpret parameter text as hotkeys.

Doing some house keeping over here, and noticed we never followed up with this one.

There are two bugs here, one for lost focus and hotkeys firing bad events (FUS-29205)

and one for Delete Key being interpreted as Enter (FUS-29637)

Both were fixed and released earlier this year. If you find any new issues with hotkeys please post them as new posts in the Support page.

Thanks!
