Upload units problem.

I just did a test uploading a STP file with a 1" cube, I set my defaults in Fusion to inches and used the data panel to uplaod the step file, when I open the file it opens in mm. If i use Create Design From File to open the STP file directly the new design is in inches. Seems like the upload from the Data Panel is defaulting to converting to mm.

Hi @HughesTooling,

Just wanted to let you know that I was able to replicate the same issue on my machine as well. Luckily there is an easy workaround! To my knowledge, there would be no reason for Fusion 360 to this on purpose, but I will check in with the development team and let them know about this. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Also it seems very similar to this post as well: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-and-documentation/can-t-change-units-for-measure-tool/m-p/54866... (towards the bottom of the thread) in which I believe this was logged with the development team for further review [FUS-16402]

I've seen a few post from people getting frustrated with Fusion switching to mm when they work in inches and I think this might be the problem.

I'm having the same problem. I just posted a new post with a screencast. I upload a part drawn in inch via step or solidworks part file and it happens every time. 

I designed my fixture over a year ago and did machine work through fusion and now when i open the old file it too has switched to MM from Inches even though Inch is set to default.

Just very Frustrating.

For STEP files, Fusion has local translators. You can open up your Inch STEP files directly in Fusion and they will show Inch units.

Use File > New Design from File.
