I don't see any pending uploads. Why would some of the reference files not download properly? Also, I don't believe there is a file called base plate, but in the truck file there is a file called chassie plate (yes I have suddenly realized I spelled chassis wrong). Do you know how I can promote an older version of the truck?

Hi Michael,
Here's an article that describes how to Promote (or open) an older version of a Fusion file:

Thx

Cool. Thanks!

Do you know how I can prevent this problem from ever occurring again? It really is quite devastating. I want to know what I did that caused this problem. I think it really would be a massive problem with the software if it wasn't caused by my improper use.

Hi Michael,

Sorry I was on vacation the whole of last week, and couldn't reply to you earlier.

Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what could've caused this issue. In all likelihood, there was a hiccup in one of the cloud services, which wasn't handled well by the Fusion client, and that resulted in us loosing the references. I'm trying to change to better handle this kind of situation now.

Thx for reporting the issue

Hi,

Thanks for all the help thus far. I am ready to promote one of the older versions, but I am not sure where the unresolved component started. I want to promote the most recent file that has no unresolved components, but I am having trouble finding which one that would be. I know that when you view the most recent version, there are no more resolved components, which means you must be able to tell when the unresolved component problem first erupted. Would you be able to tell me which version I should promote?

Thanks again,

Michael

Hi Michael,
Version 709 seemed to work fine for me. Could you please open it first, check out whether it contains the appropriate data, and then "promote" it using the process shown in the article I'd sent earlier?
Thx and regards

Thanks. When I promote an older version of the truck, what happens to all the components inside? Will they also revert to their older versions? Will I be able to keep the remaining components in their current version? If not, is there a way I can do that?

I got a little anxious and clicked promote. All the latest versions of each component has been saved! The truck has been returned to is previous glory. Thank you for helping me figure this out. I hope autodesk will do something to stop this problem from ever happening to anybody again, but I am very happy I could get all the unresolved components back! Something a little strange to note though: the problem first occurred in April, where many of the components suddenly disappeared. All the saved files after that time, were with unresolved components in them. Somehow, version 709, from May 16, doesn't have any unresolved components, even though it should. So that means somehow the components resolved themselves in all versions before and in 709, but not after 709. I have no idea how, as I have literally done nothing. I think this problem should be delved much more deeply into by autodesk. Anyway, thanks for the support!

I'm glad you were able to retrieve your original design. We've made some changes that'll help avoid this in the future. Thanks for reporting it.

I am very sad to have to report this problem again. Another two components have become unresolved, but I believe I may know why. I had two fusion tabs open, one where I had been actively editing files, and the other untouched. The tab that I was editing on, crashed. I tried closing the second tab as well, but it gave me a sign that said 24 uploads pending. I waited a while for them to upload, but they never did, so I quit the program anyway. The next time I opened Fusion, there were two unresolved components. How can I get these 24 unuploaded files to upload? And why would they not upload?

Yes, I will do that. Do you know how I can make those unuploaded files upload? I think that should solve the problem, and if there is a way to do that, it is definitively worth a try. Also, just out of curiosity, what did you and autodesk do to fix/stop this problem from happening again? What do the diagnostics log tell you?

Hi Michael,

Once I look at the diagnostics file, I might be able to tell why this problem is happening, and how to unplug the stuck upload queue.

The change that I mentioned earlier was to better detect certain errors while reading the file on disk, log them into the diagnostic files, and better recover from these errors. I can't tell why we would have trouble reading the file - sometimes it is the anti-virus acting up, and in extremely rare situations, the disk itself misbehaves. Fusion already tries to handle these negative situations, but we obviously needed to do more. But note that, these changes would not have made it to you yet.

Again, regret the inconvenience.

Alright, awesome. Attached should be the diagnostic log files. Also, the unresolved components have returned for some reason. I hope the log files can tell you why
