Hi Craig,

This is not expected. Would it be possible for me to have a peek at the data set? If so, can you please invite me (ahsan.ali@autodesk.com) to your project?

Thx and regards,

Hi Craig,

I've spent some time looking at your issue but unfortunately, am unable to figure out what could have gone wrong. A previous version of your file did have references to 3 external documents, but the new version doesn't remember any of them. Can you throw some light on what steps you might have taken before saving the latest version? It will also help if you can send us the Diagnostics files from your machine. Go to Help Menu --> "Diagnostic Log Files" and send us the zipped log file.

Thanks for your help

I'm having this trouble too. After I insert a model, if I close the document, then reopen, the inserted file is gone and a blank UnresolvedCompnent is in it's place. The document has all my CAM operations in it, so it's a bummer.

Thanks!

Hi @bmxjeff,

Thanks for the post. Can you please invite me (ahsan dot ali at autodesk dot com) to your project? I can take a peek and see if we can resolve it quickly.

Also, please tell me what I need to do to reproduce this issue.

Thx and regards,

Hi there,

Can you please share your diagnostic files with us? We might be able to detect what exactly went wrong on your machine. Please also mention which file you're trying to open, and whether you had edited any of them during the maintenance window (when you were offline).

Thx and best regards,

Ahsan

I am also having the same problem. I am making a truck in Fusion 360, and it is such a large file that I usually son't close it because it takes a long time to open. Many problems erupted over the course of many days. Firstly, some components would not get latest. When I tried it would give me an error. Then, when I tried saving the file, I got an error. It said that the file could not save because some reference files had unknown location or something like that. I tried restarting the program, and when I re-opened the file, I got the unresolved components warning, and I found 75% of the components in my project to be gone and their name's renamed to "unresolved component". This is kind of a big deal for me, so please if you can help me.

Hi @Anonymous,
Could you please share your project with me @ ahsan.ali@autodesk.com? And tell me which file (in which folder) is giving you problems.
Also, could you please send me your diagnostics file? You can generate it from the Help -> Gather Diagnostics command.
Thx much

Hi, I shared the folder with you ali. It unresolved components problem can be seen inside the subfolder labeled "RC Trophy Truck". Inside that folder are all the components and the master file. In the master file, labeled "Truck", there are a bunch of unresolved components. many of them somehow have resolved themselves, but there are still quite a few that are unresolved. See what you can do, and thanks!

Hi Michael,
For some reason I'm unable to access your project. Is it possible my permissions to that project may have been revoked? Could you please share it again?
Thx much

I shared the file with you ali. I am not sure how to get the diagnostics. When I try to view diagnostics log, it takes me to a maze of folders, which I don't know how to navigate.

You can't close a issue, because this is a post in a forum. I would be happy if Fusion 360 Autodesk would be open enough to provide a proper issue tracker.

Hi Michael,

I looked at your data, and for some reason, the latest version of your Truck assembly has zero references to any other files!! I don't know how this could have happened. It is possible there was a problem downloading anything other than the top assembly, and the assembly opened with unresolved references. You should've received an error message when that happened, and it would've warned you that saving the assembly in this state would result in the file losing all references. I can dig a bit deeper if you can send me the diagnostic log files. The location of the diagnostics file should be shown after you run the Gather Diagnostics command.

The good news is that you can "promote" the previous version of the Truck assembly, and it does seem to have all the references intact. I hope you can reuse the previous version and redo your steps on top of it.

Regret the inconvenience. Would love to identify the root issue. But will need the log files for that.

Ahsan

Yes, I was trying to figure out what was happening, and I figured the situation couldn't get much worse so I tried saving. When I re-opened the application, a bunch of the components returned, which was strange. I continued saving from then hoping the same might happen again. On my screen, most of the components still exist, but I suppose that may be a glitch on my device. If I can, I would like to promote whatever version of the truck that still exists. I would however like to know the root cause, so that I can prevent such a terrible thing from happening again. Anyway, I figured out how to attach the diagnostic logs, and the problem from before turned out to be that one of the folder was hidden. I hope we (or mostly you) can figure out what the problem really is.

Thanks.

Hi Michael,

Thanks a lot for sending us the log files. I was able to identify two issues:

* Under some conditions when the referenced files could not be downloaded properly, we're losing the references to them. I'll be making some tweaks to better handle such cases.
* The Truck assembly has a reference to a file called "Base Plate". This referenced file was not getting uploaded to the cloud. Due to that, none of the referencing files are getting uploaded. There are about 16 files stuck in the Upload queue. Are these files still stuck in the queue? Try launching Fusion in Online mode and see if it uploads a newer version of Base Plate.

Thx and regards
