Unclear deletion behaviour on importet components

Hi,

i just imported an existing design into a new one. A simple Stepper motor - only one component. The origin of the imported component was surprisingly off and i noticed it's actually a component inside another empty component. To fix this i moved the actual motor out of that empty component one level up so they ended up beeing next to each other. When i then deleted the now empty component it got deleted which is fine, but the other - moved out - component got deleted too. Is this due to consistency in design history? From a user experiences viewpoint this is not logical.

Hey Frank, I'm not sure if this is related, but others and myself noticed problems trying to delete a body that resulted from a Split body command, as mentioned here:

Do you think your issue could be related?

Frank, Is this what you are experiencing? You should be seeing the difference between Hard delete and Soft delete. Now known as Delete and Remove.

Delete = upstream deletion of all history of the thing you are deleting. This can cause downstream dependencies to get sick because you are truly deleting the object from the history.

Remove = downstream deletion of the object. This allows the object to stay in history for some time, it has references that persist, and "removal" is a timeline entry when you do it.

I've used 'rmove' to delete unwanted bodys after a split operation, but after changing the sketch parameters I used for spliting, the wrong body got deleted. I tryed to edit the 'remove' feature from the time line but it is uneditable so I had to delete it and make a new one. Is there a way to edit the 'remove' comand after it's made?

The remove command is sort of "binary" (my word), it either exists or it doesn't. The only possible edit to it is to delete it permanently from the history. In the case where you need to replace a Remove, move the timeline marker to just after it, right click on it and Delete, (the removed thing will reappear), then remove the body that you really want to remove, move the timeline marker to the end.

What I am really interested in here is a particular version of your model, the version before you "changed parameters and the wrong body got deleted". I will email you.
