Unable to snap to a vertex (or other positions)

I am suddenly unable to snap to a vertex of a line (or any point in a sketch).  For example, I start a new design and a new sketch.  All settings except Slice in the Sketch Palette are 'ON'.

I created two lines a short distance apart (for the purpose of the demo):

I now wish to draw a line connecting the ends of the two lines.

Move the cursor over one line and it snaps to it.

Move the cursor to the end of another line:

The cursor movement is jerky and will not approach the chosen end of the other line.

A circle appears and I am unable to snap to any point within that circle, but if I choose a point outside the circle the snap works.

But the cursor movement is still jerky.  As I often work with small dimensions, this is becoming very discriminatory in my design work.

I have checked the features in the Preferences:

Why has this suddenly developed and how do I clear it?

Unfortunately, the Screencast facility no longer seems to be available so I am unable to show you what is happening in real time.

Thanks.

What do you get when Sketch Grid and Snap are turned off?

there are many other screencast utilities available. I've been using screen recorder pro b/c it's easy and alto captures mouse and keyboard actions. I got it from the Microsoft store.-

I can't reproduce what your describing.  it may be hardware or graphics driver related.  first thing to check would be to make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.  next try selecting different graphics drivers.  I think open GL is the one usually suggested (not completely sure about that)

Untick the bottom option, 3d sketch, and after close and open sketch, that sketching triad will be gone.

Might help….

That seems to have done the trick, Sir.  Many thanks.
