Unable to select multiple paths in pipe command

Title says it all... If I draw two lines, I can only select one in pipe command. I'm on mac. Multiple profile selection works fine in all other commands I believe.

Could you share a screencast or a design file here? There are some limitations of the pipe command. Perhaps you need to use the break command in the sketch menu to break up the sketch? Check out the below video for reference.

I hope that helps!

Thanks,

Here you go @innovatenate

I guess it might not be designed to be used in this manner although I think this functionality would be really helpful.

That's an interesting case. I'm not sure how the pipe command is intended to function in that scenario. I've logged FUS-29166 with development to investigate the issue further.

I note that if I use the pipe command in the Sculpt environment, it does seem to work.

That might be a work-around solution for the moment (other than just creating another pipe command).

I or someone else will follow up to confirm the design behavior. Thanks for reporting this!

Thanks @innovatenate! I appreciate the sculpt work-around but it's not a viable solution for most of my use cases. Would love to see this functionality included in a future update; would be a big time saver.

Hi @sambirchenough,

What you are asking is very problematic. The reason it's working in the Form environment, is because you are creating Surfaces and NOT bodies! The Pipe tool creates a body, and since those two lines are not touching each other, you cannot create two separate bodies at the same time.

If it was possible to create multiply bodies from sketches that don't touch each other, then you will have a problem with R.U.L.E #1. You will have a component and inside that component two separate bodies, which you cannot combine because they are not touching each other! Then you will have to put one of the bodies in a new component.

This is a VERY bad workflow!

Do you understand the problem with that?

Cheers / Ben

@Beyondforce I do understand your point, however, it very often makes sense to have multiple bodies within a single component, and even more so when using the pipe command as a cutting tool. For example, I regularly draw line paths for fill / vent / cooling canals in tooling. The most efficient way to create these geometries is with the pipe command.

Well, from the productivity side of it, I understand you. If you have a specific case, I don't mind to take a look at it. Maybe there's another way to solve your challenge.

Ben.

is it possible that 9 years later this feature still isn't in fusion? What skeleton crew is left working on this product??
