Not today. Very soon though....Nov 2nd was our original goal.
I don't mean to direct this specifically at you personally, but that's more than a little disappointing. As an early Ultimate adopter, that means I'll have gone nearly 2 years without any significant delineation between Ultimate and Basic. This short reply can't even come close to expressing how dissatisfied this makes me, but I will give a suggestion as to what it would mean to take care of your early adopters.
In my opinion, Autodesk should provide 1 year of Fusion Ultimate for every early adopter who signed up for Ultimate and paid for 1 year of Ultimate. To date, I have not been given a year of Ultimate, so I still feel like I have not been given what I paid for. That would be taking care of your early Ultimate adopters. Giving us an extra year of Fusion Basic for free (I have been reminded of how generous this was several times in email communications) is not the same thing as providing the Fusion Ultimate that we were signing up for 2 years ago. I could go into great detail, but it would probably come off as a rant, so I'll leave it at that. If you want more information as to why I think it is the right move, I'll supply it on request.
The email I got saying that Fusion Ultimate was coming back on Nov. 2nd (made no mention of it being a possible target date, but implied it was a hard deadline) and also asking for more money was not the right move. An email saying "We promised you Ultimate 2 years ago, and we'll soon deliver. When Ultimate returns, you'll receive an extended license for 1 year following it's release!" would have gone a lot further toward making your early adopters happy. I can't speak for all early adopters, but I did not get a good feeling when I read the email I received. Instead, I was reminded, indirectly, that I have now gone 2 years without the product I signed up for and now need to pay more to continue the saga. I'm sure that the email met most early adopters with mixed feelings at the very least. I'm not sure how anyone could read the following (actual email from Autodesk regarding Ultimate) without feeling a bit insulted. It fails to acknowledge, at all, that the offer was to get Fusion Ultimate at the base price and it has never happened to date. It gives the impression that I've been getting Ultimate for two years, with the last year for free (I would not consider that an accurate portrayal). Other than cloud credits, which I don't really use, there is little to distinguish the experience from Basic in reality. Also, trying to elicit gratitude by starting the email off reminding subscribers of how generous you (Autodesk) have been is not the way I'd have chosen to communicate either. In my opinion, an a apology regarding the lack of progress on Fusion Ultimate over the last 2 years would have been a more appropriate way to start that letter. After the snip below, there were instructions on how to make sure and pay.
Autodesk: Resources to help you with Fusion 360
Hi Michael,
As I’m sure you remember, as an early adopter of Fusion 360 we offered Ultimate to you at the base price and extended your agreement last year for 1 year free on us.
Your current agreement is set to expire on 12/10/2016 and I wanted to make you aware that Fusion 360 Ultimate is returning on November 2, 2016. |
