Is this Answer Day a software wide question session or is it more focused on Design and Modeling? I only ask because the notice was only posted on this forum and not the CAM forum. All good if it is, just wanted to make sure

Hi @LibertyMachine,

Yep! It should apply to the CAM board as well! I'll ask one of the moderators of that board to put up a similar notice over there.

Thanks for letting us know!

The HSM gurus are watching the HSM boards and the Fusion CAM board, so ask away!

Hope that helps!

I have been trying to complete a design that my business depends on. I have had several responses from here and thought that my problems had been resolved only to find out later that they had in fact not been resolved. Therefore my questions are: 1. Are there limits to how many points you can set on a sketch? The problem: While trying to draw a sketch, going left to right then downward and then right to left, etc. I can only get 4 points set and the sketch still isn't finished. 2. After following step by step a video sent to me by a member, it appeared that I had finally gotten the answer to be able to complete the project but was then told that for some reason the sketch stopped putting in the dimensions of the sketch. This is what I'm working on and still cannot complete the design after over a month. Any help is greatly appreciated as I have several items that I need to get designed and produced. Another problem is that while I'm following the lessons, my computer doesn't work like the videos. I tried to uninstall the software and reinstall but that didn't work. After doing some corrections to the sketch I saved it and then could not find it to put into my response. Not sure but I think that the first file is the most recent except for the new sketches that I've been trying to do to see if I can get this figured out.

Hi @Anonymous,

I apologize, but I don't understand what problems you are having.  I have opened the model in the post above, and it seems to be OK.  You say:

"1. Are there limits to how many points you can set on a sketch? The problem: While trying to draw a sketch, going left to right then downward and then right to left, etc. I can only get 4 points set and the sketch still isn't finished."

I'm not sure I understand the question here.  There are no technical limits to the number of points you can put into a sketch.  There are probably practical performance limits to the number of geometries (lines, arc, curves, splines, points) + constraints (geometric constraints, dimensions) you can create before the performance is affected.  I don't understand your reference to "only get 4 points set and the sketch still isn't finished".  Can you provide a screencast or video showing what you are trying to do, so we can get  a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing?

"2. After following step by step a video sent to me by a member, it appeared that I had finally gotten the answer to be able to complete the project but was then told that for some reason the sketch stopped putting in the dimensions of the sketch."

Again, the problem here is not clear to me.  Can you elaborate, or provide a screencast of your problem?  The sketches in the supplied design seem to show correct behavior for dimensions.

Thanks,

Jeff

I would love to do that thing you suggest if I knew how to do it. Could you
please tell me which file you are referring to that you believe is ok? Do
you feel that it is ready to be sent out for production? If you can
instruct me in how to do a screen cast? I will be more than happy to do so.

Hi @Anonymous,

I think Jeff is referring to the "Tims Muzzle Break less text v2.f3d" file that you attached to your first post. As for making a screencast, here's a great article that explains how to use the Screencast plugin to document your issue.

Thanks,

Kate
