Trying to split a mold - no intersection between target(s) and split tool

Hi Fusion Experts,

I've been battling a troublesome splitting issue in my attempt to make a split mold for a part. I've included a screencast below describing the issue, and I have attached the part. I apologize for my inconsistent naming of features and bodies.

I also tried using boundary fill to get the two halves, but that also failed. Also if anyone has a better method for making split molds like this I would be very happy to hear how.

Thank you very much!

I projected the splitting surface to a sketch on the side of the mold block. Extrude|Cut the rail from the mold block, then used the sketch to split the mold block.

p.s. You'll need to use a different sketch to split the upper left portion.

On further review, this will only work if you can define planes for each area to split.
