Trying to draw 90 degrees to a spline...

Hi,

I hope I can explain this properly.  I have a spline leg as shown below. The I used draft to taper the leg.  Now I want the same shape but at 45 degrees on each side so that the leg ultimately has three sides.

I'm really not sure how to go about this... using projection?  Not sure where to make the plane.

cheers,

Are you sure about that?

Variable Chamfer, will give you a Point on the bottom.

You could try it, but I don’t think you have asked for - What it will do.

I understand it ? Top face of the leg is made into a 90 degrees triangle, so the rails fit neat,

what do you want at the floor level?

between your description and the drawing, I'm not sure I really understand what your after.  attached are 2 interpretations of what it sounds like your asking for.

I also attached a third example that is closer to how I approach this type of legs just for your reference.  you'l note that the faces where the mortises would go for joining to the apron are plumb and square

I appreciate the help.  I'm going to try projection and see if I can get close to what I want before commenting.  I wish I was better at free hand.

I like your third leg, but the way you made it (which is a cool idea) doesn't work for making the leg look what I want.

I'll keep messing around on my end.  I don't want to waste anyone's time making something that I'm not explaining correctly.

cheers,
