Timeline always scrolling to the beginning instead of showing the last items

I was wondering why is the timeline by default scrolled up to the beginning? I am more interested to see what's towards the end of the timeline. This is where I have my latest actions/changes/features... It's pretty annoying when I need to move the scroll bar all the way to the right every time I need to check my latest features. Moreover the scrollbar very often isn't showing at all.

So is there way to have the timeline automatically scrolled to the right towards the latest items instead of showing the same items in the beginning which is kind of useless?

I just looked in the preferences to see if there was a way to chance this.  Could not find it. 

You can use the middle mouse button to slide though it quickly if the cursor is over it.  Also, activating a component focuses it to the items in the timeline.

Sorry for the trouble you are facing. Can you please send me a quick video/screencast for the issue you are facing. In timeline , use can use "Move to end " to go to the latest.

Regardless what document I open, the timeline is always scrolled all the way to the beginning. 

Apart from that, very often the scroll bar wont show at all so I have no clue how much is left to scroll till the end. I wonder if the latter is related to the video card / driver.

If you see closely you should be able to fine the scrollbar and from the attached image i can see you are already at the beginning of the timeline, If you want to go to the end of the timeline Just hit

Good point about using the timeline button! 

The scroll bar showes sometimes simply doesn't show at all. This time I have been lucky. 

Is it not supposed to scroll all the way to the end by default? That way you can see your new items adding up at the end of the timeline as opposed to seeing the same items in the beginning of the timeline.

Yes, The Timeline marker is all the way to the end by default and Scrollbar will be shown at the beginning of the timeline.
If you want to add new items at the end of the timeline you can just press 

.

If you cant see Scrollbar or history marker then it's a bug.

Note:

When you activate a component, the features not in that component will get filtered out, so you can't see them.

Old thread but same issue. The problem is not that you are not able to go to the end of the timeline by clicking the >| arrow. The problem is that I for example do a "Edit in place" on a component and then jump back to my main assembly (which has got a huge history tree) the scrollbar always go back to the beginning. So you have to scroll to the end all the time which is annoying. There is the option of clicking the scrollbar click "Right edge" but this is still something you need to do actively.

It is like if you would edit a word document and for each letter you type the scrollbar jumps to the top of the document.

Please add an option in the settings "Default scrollbar position right" or something. If you have a history of 100 pcs you rarely want to do anything in the beginning anyway so it makes no sense the scrollbar is in the most left position every time something changes.

This is exactly the quality-of-life issue I have been facing for years. To rephrase, the issue is that when opening a file or activating a component the timeline view always defaults to showing the oldest features in the history, despite the cursor being at the present, on the far right of the screen. Clicking the "Move to End" button in the timeline navigation does nothing because the cursor is already at the end, it is your view of the timeline history that needs to be moved the to end. This should be done by default, as the most likely features to be changed are the new ones at the far right of the timeline (which we cannot see until the scroll bar is dragged right each time).

The ideal solution would be to make the timeline view match the cursor's position upon opening a file or activating a component. Another solution would be adding a checkbox option in the "Preferences controlling general Design behavior" section of Preferences.

I was unaware of the option to right click the timeline scroll bar and select "Right edge," that will save a second or two each design session.

Do you complain about opening a word or PDF file, showing first page - and not the last page?

it drives me crazy too... please change it so the handle is always at the end, or let it fload with the progress. Its sometimes the those little things that improve the software a lot.

I would indeed complain about those things, if word processors and PDF readers did not already possess similar features. Opening a standard or technical manual with 1000 - 10,000 pages and having to manually navigate to the last page I had open would be inordinately frustrating, as would needing to manually scroll to the bottom of a report I'm writing every single time I open it.

I can confidently speak only for myself, but I suspect this is not an uncommon use case. When I use Fusion, I use it in a design and editing capacity, and am far more concerned with the design steps at the end of the design history than I am with those at the very beginning. I think the ideal solution in this case is to have a setting, such as the one in Adobe Acrobat which decides whether or not to open to the last view state or not, that determines where the view of the design history should begin upon opening a file. I think there's an argument for making it the default behaviour, but I'm sure that would upset some people, so I'd be happy with just being able to change the behaviour with a setting.

Of course, this issue is a very minor annoyance at worst, but it is still annoying. Any improvement in this area would be very welcome.

Please expedite this ASAP. It's so easy to do and the bug is SOOOOO annoying. Like why. Every time I make ONE change to a sketch it just scroll ALLL the way to the beginning of a 1000 edit part. Do you know how annoying that is to scroll it back hundreds of time in a workflow. How did no one catch this and why is there no unscroll button to go back to where it should be.

This is great to hear, I dread to think how many hours I've wasted constantly scrolling to the end of the timeline, every time you interact with a different component in the browser. I reckon it will literally be into the hundreds of hours over the last few years !! 

This is a plus 1 to consider expediting the request!
