tapering walls on letters

Hi Guys,

Im trying to design a nice millable logo for a friend of mine and i would like to give a taper to the walls of the letters,

Ive tried to do that using the chamfer command but this gives me the errors shown in the attachment. i also tried to extreude the letters with a taper but that also does not seem to work as you can see in the other picture in the attachements.

I cant get any further then this, can someone please help me?

Thanks in advance,

Jordi

Hi,

This is a typical application for V-carving (engraving).
Have a look at this   Tutorial and search for further tutorials on the subject.

One advantage is that you get sharp corners on the top edge of letters.

Hi Gunther,

Thanks for your reply but i want the letters to pop out the material instead of the letters into the matertial.

I also want to make it from aluminium on a 5axis cnc (:

Kind regards,

Jordi

That is also possible. All you have to do is place a rectangle around the text block, for example.

I also want to make it from aluminium on a 5axis cnc (:

Machines and material do not play a role

As mentioned by g-andresen you can do a V-Bit carve in Fusion that can emulate your "Style"... Can you share your file?KOP.jpg

The most reliable method is to use the Loft command.

Extrude with taper works best when extruding from the smallest to the largest.

p.s. You can also just cut the taper directly on the CNC machine using a V bit.
