Hello.

Total newb here. I am watching a YouTube video from DCT Solutions on making an organizer for 3D printing. Around 6 min 14 sec he does a tangent of a circle and a line. When I do it I get the later picture. I can fix it by adding a dimension and making it 0.0001. It then looks like it does what it is supposed to do.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thank you in advance.

You have too much unconstrained (blue) geometry.

I recommend that beginners create only one line or one rectangle or one circle and fully define as they go before creating another sketch element.

This technique ensures rock-solid, absolutely predictable behavior.

What am I doing wrong?  Preferences.

Your line is not connected to the vertical line of the box.

If it was you could not dimension a gap.

He draws the line line with a snapped coincident start point.  He waits for a blue cross when starting the line, and He doesn’t even mention that important piece in your puzzle.

That means the vertical line from the box exists in his sketch, so you and the presenter have different sets of preferences for sketching, about projecting when referenced.

Might help....
