Tangent dimensions in drawing workspace

This feels like a very elementary issue but...
Is there any way for me to dimension the depth of this counterbore in the side of a cylinder from the tangent?

Apologies if I'm missing something blatantly obvious here.

This is a job of an auxiliary sketch in the model and then using it in the drawing to dimension to.  You can use this method for any number of dimensions that you cannot place any other way such as calling out a Pitch Diameter on a pulley.  Take a look at the Screencast.  I used a slot rather than a counterbored hole because it is quicker to create.  Someone did not share their model!

Aha, thank you so much for taking the time to make up that example. I didn't realize I could pull points out of a sketch in the model. That opens up a whole world of possibilities

Nice tip. Didn't realize you can do that!

Too bad you can't use construction lines as well, it would help for bolt hole circle callouts until Autodesk does something for those in the drawing workspace. For now, you can sketch them in with the new sketching capability in the drawing workspace, however you can't directly dimension them as they do not come in as the same scale as the model. You would have to select it and then manually enter the bolt hole circle. (to be clear I am talking about the sketches you make while in the drawing workspace, not the sketches you can use from the model workspace. I am sure those are to the right scale!)

Hi All. I have this problem. Please tell me why the same line shows two different lengths. I accidentally noticed that the sizes are different.  Sketch Dimension Line Leght 69.142 but in the screen in lower left Line Length it show 69.162mm. of these two values which is correct?Dimension Line Leght 69.142 But in the lower left corner it says Line Leght 69,162mmDimension Line Leght 69.142 But in the lower left corner it says Line Leght 69,162mm

Both are correct.

Top dimension is horizontal distance between end points,

Lower left is true length of the line.

Might help...

Ooh yes, you are right, as I didn't think that this is a horizontal line length. Thank you!
