T-Spline subdivision oddity (bug ?)

I am trying to add edge loops along the length of the object.

But somehow Fusion subdivides three of the selected sides as intended and the 4rth one in the opposite direction.

Hi @TrippyLighting@PhilProcarioJr@cekuhnen

Thank you for sharing this issue.

I really appreciate your effort. I should have perceived this problem earlier. Smiley Sad

I’ve reported it (FUS-26811) and as soon as I get more information as to when, I'll let you know immediately. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience caused. (just refer to avi)

Case 1) unmatched the direction of quantities from @TrippyLighting

Case 2) have a wave line from @cekuhnen

Thank you again for creating videos @PhilProcarioJr , @cekuhnen   Smiley Happy

I also learn from you guy’s issues and I’m glad to support you guys. I think Fusion Team is very aggressive team so you will be satisfied with Fusion 360 soon. On top of that I’m going to do my best. I really want to steal you guys know-how!! Smiley Happy

Many thanks!

I have used Maya for probably around 18 or so years, maybe I'm just used to it....comfortable if you will. But I can explore ideas very quickly with it and it works the way I think so maybe for me that's why it's such a good fit. Lightwave has LWCAD and that makes it very useful for working with CAD and the Genoma2 in it lets me concept functionality so quickly in my opinion it can't be beat. For me Blenders UI brings me to a grinding halt. So I only use it to show others when I know someone can't afford another 3d app. Your work flow by extruding cvs would never work for me. I tried working that way in the past and it felt like I was always doing cleanup instead of creating things, but we all have our different ways of doing things.

The UI in Blender is not that harder than Maya specifically considering that Maya and Blender in a similar way

expose mesh object data blocks and such.

I quite understand where you are coming from - while I always find it interesting how there are to groups

that work with extruding edges/faces only and those who extrude all three.

If you know Maya very well then why something different. In my classroom - while I know and like Maya just

don't use it anymore - Blender is actually easier to teach than Maya when you want for object design get onto

the same level. I created my own UI addition to streamline the workflow. However unlike Maya Blender Org also

always failed to maybe introduce an official Intro tutorial into how to use it that pops up when you start the app

as a new user unlike Maya.

Many people complain about Maya having a terrible UI which I find funny it just has so much to show and

thus the UI is rather deep and not bad.

This is going to sound funny but things like right clicking to select an object drives me crazy...I hate it. I have tried to get used to it for over 5 years and I just can't do it. Being able to switch view port focus by tapping the spacebar feels right to me. The hotbox in Maya is my favorite of all apps I have ever used. Mel scripting is easy and since the entire UI is built in MEL creating new buttons, functions and automating repetitive commands is a breeze. I have used all 3d apps out there and IMO Maya is the perfect fit for me. I can see why everyone has their favorites and that's fine. I don't try to convert anyone to use apps they are not interested in or don't like. Using the node editor with MEL scripting gives me complete control over my work and it's very fast. Plus I am not willing to give up my NURBS tools or my conversion from Poly to Sub-D to NURBS. Paintfx is a true joy to work with and Maya live tool I can't live without. Fluid simulation in Maya is second to none as far as built in solutions in my opinion. I could go on but anyone that would find value in what I'm saying already loves all of this and is probably a Maya user.

@PhilProcarioJr You crack me up right click select? Thats why you change it in the prefs! I fully agree with you here, while actually when you know how Blender works it makes sense to use R C S but it is just odd.

I actually try not to say Maya is bad at all.

I like Maya as much as you do. Having poly and nurbs in the same tool set is spot on. I wonder often why not more apps have the same nurbs poly tool set.

But I actually left Maya when TS came out and Rhino has surfacing tools Maya does not. So that was my main reason.

When Fusion came out Blender seemed to be more usable again with T-Splines.

However I feel that you miss the point that many things you can do with Mel in Maya is possible with Python in Blender as well for the UI as well as tools etc.

Thats why there are complete ports of Blender looking like a different app specialized for architecture and interior design as an example.

But truth is when compared to modeling strength Maya rules - period.

"You crack me up right click select? Thats why you change it in the prefs!"

Here is the thing. When I sat down to go through tutorials to learn Blender I didn't like the work flow or the little things like right click select, so like you said I went into preferences and after I changed everything the way I wanted it nothing worked right, I couldn't follow any tutorials, then I kept running into things like this only works in version x.x then oh this was moved in version x.x and oh we don't do it that way anymore we do it like this...Since Blender is OS it feels like it has been stretched in too many directions for my taste. And to be honest I personally just hate modeling in it. So I stick with Maya and Lightwave, but this is why I always tell people use the polygon modeling app "YOU" like instead of telling them go use Maya. The only reason I tell people about Blender is it is free and it is also a very complete polygon modeling app, it just not the right fit for me. Just like retopo apps, I prefer Topogun, but I tell people use what ever one "YOU" want whether it be Zbrush, Blender, 3D Coat whatever.  Smiley Happy

@PhilProcarioJr No disagreement on the UI there.

Fun thing is years ago with the old UI students stuck with it instead of using the new UI after 2.5 - they were just used to it.
