Sweeping cutting through undesired faces

I'm trying to design a stair bracket. I've gotten the design NEARLY perfect. However, there's a recessed portion of the interior part of the bracket which is sloped and runs along the inside of the recessed area's walls. (see photo)

I tried creating sketches and sweeping them which mostly works except at the intersection of the top/bottom sweeps as they reach the RHS of the model (again, see photo).

Looking for ideas on how to do this right/better.file.jpegScreen Shot 2018-06-11 at 9.48.40 PM.png

You have quite a few unnecessary steps in the file.  I moved the timeline back, then used a sweep to create the sloped portion of the bracket.  The magic numbers in the screencast came from your Sketch6.

I did travel down a few false paths, but you should be able to get there easier Smiley Happy

p.s.  If I were going to do this again, I would edit your Sketch4 to include the sloped profile as well.  That should give you the desired result in one operation.

Please see attached on how I would approach a design like this. Note that my version is more of a demonstration of how you can radically simplify your workflow/timeline and achieve similar results. I know that I haven't faithfully recreated your geometry.
