Surface manipulating

On this body shell I would like to add some detail: Along the intersected profile I need a tiny offset (approx 0.5mm, which represents a removable hood). How can that be done?

Since you already have the surface you want to use to make the parting line for the hood, I would simply thicken the surface 0.5mm and then do a boundary fill to remove that area.  Please see attached link to a video that goes through this workflow and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Mike

Thanks for the video. It shows more or less what I actually did. But I did it in "Model" mode instead of "Patch".

After the body is cut into three parts (front, profil section and rear), I tried to thicken the profil section. I worked along the sculpted surface. But in the lower part, where I cut off a slice to form the final body, it did not work.

So what exactly should I do the the section part?

I was able to extrude a profile along the path. Then I subtracted it Form the body shell. It worked. 🙂
