Super Beginner question, how to approach the design.

So I am trying to create drone model for myself, I am inspired by one I found somewhere online.
At first I thought it will be all simple because it's all symmetrical, but now I am stuck on extruding model from sketch.
So this is what I got

And this is where I want to go:

What would be the best approach? Of course I know nothing about blending parts together yet so it's hard for me to understand, but I bet there is some easy approach to that.

I was thinking wouldn't be better to have another rectangle on top and somehow blend it together with those curves.
How would you approach that ?

This.. is awesome, I just watched it all, and now I am going to watch it again while doing same along the video.  Very informative, and all this little tricks. It's great.

Is there any way to download that screencast, so I can save it so it won't get lost ?

I am about to finish with my model (initial shape). all was going fine to that point including mirror duplicate.
On last step when I do mirror duplicate, box view looks okay

But smooth mode does that

Why is that ?
I can see it creates gap between them but why ?

ok I think ?I fixed it by manually welding points

Well, no I didn't fix it, when I do last mirror, parts overlapping and not creating one model

Well it was something to do with legs not being symmetric, but it's all good now
I've added a bit of asymmetry on top, and bulked it on bottom and that's what I wanted

Forgive me, but I have side question.

I am trying to make some nice connection for the legs, so they can be attached separately. My current drone has something like that which is pretty simple and works.

Just push and it works.

Trying to to same thing on current model, I started adding shape  to the bottom of the leg.

But I won't be able to close it.
How should I approach that ?

Share the model so I can see the history and then I can show you.

I actually changed approach. I think it's better to create leg first, and they cut it out with that shape. At least that's the idea, don't know how to do it yet. I am attaching my project

Aaand another question ( I promise it's a last one). How do I make some kind of groove, or or a line guide for cutting the lead off the top ?
I can't add points in T-spline, because that messes up the shape.

after 3D printing the body I need to cut the lid out -around 3-4mm for the carbon fibre wrap, is there a way to add lines and extrude them without changing the shape of the model ?

Make a top view sketch, use it to Split top Face,

Use Pipe > Cut for a small groove on the face edge.

Might help....

gbkwiatt_1-1618431889970.png
