Subtracting one object from another changes surfaces to opaque?

I wanted to subtract one transparent object from another. I need them transparent so I know what's going on inside. When I selected the "tool" object, the object became opaque and finalising the operation resulted in an opaque area in my cylinder. I was expecting a hollow spot which is what 123D Design does.

Hi @Anonymous,

What materials are your bodies set to? That opaqueness can happen with materials like steel or matte plastic because Fusion shows a new surface with the material's default appearance. If your materials are opaque, try changing them to a translucent one and see if that fixes this issue. If your materials are already transparent, please upload your file and I'll take a look at it. 🙂

Best,

The only way it could occur is if you've applied transparent appearance, not to the whole body, but face by face. If so, then your tube is metal except for faces you've specified as transparent. New faces that occurred are now metal. The only other way it could look like in your example is if that would be a bug. It may be confusing, so please watch this:
