Squirrely browser

 I have an assembly with ~40-50 components.  As I move between components that I'm modelling, I often have to switch the visibility of the components ON & OFF.  For certain subassemblies/components I consistently have to play a game of tag to toggle part visibility.  So, when I hover the mouse cursor over the light bulb, the light bulb shifts left, I shift my cursor left to click the light bulb and it explodes the browser tree. (as if I'm selecting to explode the browser tree).  Other time, selecting the bulb is not responsive at all, so I can't hide the part.  This only happens to certain components in the browser.

Hmmm, tried to record a screencast, but video always shows a white screen...  Regardless, it seems that the clickable area to select the light bulb, for example, is always shifted to the right of the icon (light bulb in this case).

this is a bug that we have not seen in some time.  I'll check with qa and development if this problem is still persisting, obviously for you it is.

One way you can make managing the visibility of many assemblies/components is to use selection sets.

in the images below I created a selection set so I can quickly toggle visibility of multiple items at once.

Select your components and create a selection set.

one click of the desired selection set, I named the set Fasetners in this case for quick identification, selects all the components in that set

With the selection set selected you can right mouse click in the modeling canvas and toggle the visibility of all the components at once. Repeat the selection/toggle to turn the visibility back on.

Another path you can take is activating the component you want to work on

this will isolate just what you want to work on and ghost all the other components in your modeling canvas, but leave them as selectable so you can reference geometry if you need to.

when you are done, activate the very top level component in your browser to bring back everything.

Thanks.  This is helpful.  I have not utilized selection sets, but, clearly, they will speed up my workflow.
