I can't figure out how to separate the switch from the encasement in this .STEP file, into two separate bodies. I tried starting with a Split Body using the inside long flat side faces adjacent to the switch, but I just get intersection errors. Would anyone be able to explain the process for something like this?
Thanks!
All works Ok my end.
I used Extend cutting tool,
Then found there was some draft inside the slot, so deleted those faces.
Red plate is not part of the switch anymore.
Might help....
Ahh ok, so @davebYYPCU, you did a Surface-type Extrude to create the sort of oval-shaped body/surface to use as the splitting tool. I didn't know that Surface extrudes are different than Solid extrudes, good to know. Thanks dave!
@TheCADWhisperer, shoot, that is an even more complete separation of the switch's body. There's no design history though, how did you achieve that so perfectly?
Unstitch the surfaces.
Segregate the two components (or bodies) into Groups.
Repair the Pins.
Repair the Holes.
Stitch back to solids.
