Split Body Error

Hi all,

I am a new at fusion 360 and currently practicing my surface modelling with using the fusion video tutorials.

I have gotten to the part where I have to split the body of the surface using splines that I previously drawn, but it doesn't cut like originally intended.

I attached my file and a screenshot of what occurred, which can be compared with the video with the timestamp below.

Thank you very much!

I understand that you are following a tutorial, but honestly, this tutorial is amongst a number of tutorials from Autodesk that shows bad techniques. Something I am sure you are not aware of is curvature, which is important when modeling with surfaces.
If you model a T-spline and then cut it the curvature of the resulting edge is pretty terrible and in more complex models can easily lead to modeling problems.
I applied the Inspect->Curvature comb tool to the edge of the split T-spline and you can see that the curvature is uneven and jagged.
This part really does not require the use of T-Splines either as it can be created from sketches and curves by lofting and then results in much better geometry.

Hi Trippylightning, Is there anything I can do now to fix my model?

when you "split body" with a curve, the projection is normal to the sketch plane you selected when creating the sketch.  You didn't select the same plane as the guy in the video.  even though you made the curve on the xz plane, the sketch was actually created on the xy plane, so it is trying to project UP from there to do the cut.  that sketch should have been created on the xz plane.

Hi LaughingCreek,

I redid all the steps on the xz plane but it still isn't working, is there anything i'm still doing wrong?

Thank you!

looks the same as before, but I can't tell from just the pic, can you attach the current model?
