Spline Line in Two Segments

Given:

Fusion 360

OS Windows 10

Parametric mode

I have created a hollow tube following a spline created in a sketch.

Problem:

The point where the straight segment of the spline connects to the curved segment seems to be creating an edge/seam between the two sections when extruded. The two segments can alos be individually selected in the sketch. Please see attached screen shot. Note the black line connected to the blue at a white dot. The edge/seam creates problems importing the component to CFD.

In a sketch, using a Fit Point Spline creates a continuous joined line. Using that line does not create the segmented line or the extrusion. However, it does not provide simplistic control.

I can’t remember how to repair this. Is there a way to join the two line segments or remove the edge/seam in the body after it is created, using the spline line?

Regards to all,

Kevin

this is expected behavior.  Edges will be created at the corresponding point in any sketch curve boundaries.  These edges cannot be deleted.  If you don't want those edges, create a single spline for your path.  What problems do these edges cause for you?  If your sketch curves are constrained to be tangent, the resulting  faces will also be tangent.

Thank you John and Jeff for offering to help and providing some suggestions. It is always appreciated! 😀

As Jeff mentioned... Yes, in Sketch a Fit Point Spline creates a continuous joined line. This allows creation of a continues solid/hollow pipe.

The Sketch a Fit Point Spline handles offer limited control over independent control of the curve or line segments. Even if you select the point, R-click and select Activate Tangent or Curvature Handle. This summer, after a week of struggling, I did find a way to independently control the handles each side of the point. It was not obvious. I just can't find the source for the information and my notes on how. It saved hours of work and provided much better smother consistent results. If I can find it I will post for everyone's benefit.
