Spiral Shape does not close

Hi, 
I hope that anyone can help me with my issue.
I'm trying to recreate this ornament

I've come that far but I was not able to close the spiral so far that the faces touch each other.

After almost 2 hours of trying and searching I've come to an point where I don't know how I could create it.
The best would be if the object has a sharp edge isntead of a round one
