SOLVED - extruding from the middle of an object (use long hold left click dummy)

So I must be using Autocad Fusion360 wrong because it really does not want to let me cut this sketch in either direction from the middle of this object. I have tried making the sketch on both a midplane and an offset plane. Cutting from the outside in seems to work fine but Fusion seems to refuse to keep the interior sketch selected when I hit extrude? (second picture)

(below showing sketch selected)

below showing immediately after hitting extrude, notice sketch no longer selected and no extrude arrow present

sketch2.png

So..I just have no idea why I can't cut from a sketch from the inside of the object...I even tried another offset plane from another dimension and a different offset so it isn't in the middle of the object, still no dice.

Why on Earth am I having problems doing something as simple as trying to cut a sketch from inside a solid object?

I think you mean Autodesk Fusion 360.

After selecting Extrude, then longgg left click in the area of the sketch and select from the list.

make a long press left click,

and the software will let you select the schetck or

turn of the bodie visibility and select the rectangle!

I done with your file, without problems!

let me know if you solve your problem!

Just a point of clarification,  The extrude in the model environment doesn't extrude sketches, it extrudes profiles.  So it makes sense that the sketch doesn't stay selected when you start the extrude command.  Don't try to select a sketch curve, select the profile contained with in the curves.

If with the Extrude dialog open, the Sketch Profile... well, must be a Profile- a closed loop of Sketch elements.   Regardless, left-clicking and holding should active a pop-up menu of items Fusion recognizes as valid for Extrusion at the clicked location.   Non-planar Profiles are not valid targets for Extrude.   Non-Profile Sketch elements may be confronted by Extrude in the Patch Workspace- were the focus is processing surfaces, not solids.
