SolidEdge import problem?

Hi,

I am using Solid Edge in Parralell on Mac. Unable to import files from Solid Edge to Fusion 360. Is it because I am importing from a Windows application to Mac program?
Can anyone help.

Thanks,

Tore R.

Export from SolidEdge as x_t or x_b parasolids file.
Fusion 360 does not have a native SolidEdge translator today.

Hi,

Tried to export from Solid Edge with x_t or x_b paralsolids, this is not working.
Will there be a translator for Solid Edge, and if so, when?

Thanks,
Tore R.

Hello Tore,

I am not sure if this has been entered as an enhancement request as of yet but below is the link to post this to be added.

Can you be more specific on what is not working? Is the export not working or the import?
I apologize for the trouble. I import parasolids data myself and can confirm the import works. So there might be something special about the SolidEdge data? IS is unusually large/complicated? Surfaces, sketches or mesh data?

Hi post,

It is importing from Solid Edge that does not work. I use a Mac with Fusion 360 Mac verson and Parallel with Solid Edge. Could it be that I try to import from Windows to Mac?

Thanks,

Do you mean that no imports from Solid Edge are working? Or just one particular set of files?

If its just one set, try importing them into solid edge as parasolids and see if they even come back into the native software cleanly.  Solid edge has always been pretty good to me about making translatable geometry, but sometimes things imported into it from other software can cause problems for downstream users with other software.  SE is tolerant, so you dont notice until you hand it off.

Interested in how your getting along overall, as I intend to use F360 for early concepts projects and SE for more sophisticated projects where the part counts are high.

Tore,

Fusion 360 doesn't read native SolidEdge files (extensions .par, .asm, and .psm), whether it's Windows or Mac doesn't matter.  Fusion 360 does read the Parasolid Files (extensions .x_t and .x_b) are portable so, if you write them out of SolidEdge, again Windows or Mac doesn't matter.

I hope this helps,

Hi,

Yes, it slowed the problem. If I sawed in SolidEdge as Save as translated and then as Parasolid (x-p,x-t) it woks perfect.

The only problem it that the part is on the wrong origin. The top of the part is on the side origin. Can I turn the part so that the top is on the top origin?

Thanks,
