Hi

Simple task but not for me. Just trying to copy this black solid and want to

place it on the middle of the blue marked edges. Why does it not give me any points

on the either of the two solid edges. Corners yes but not midpoints anywhere.

Hi,

Use the "point to point" move tool, it should work

Not when I want to move it only sideways along that axis.

I think this is a basic command and nothing unique so why dont it show snappoints also in the middle?

Thanks.

Ofcourse I get it moved to where I want if I go another way. The question

is why it does NOT snap to midpoints as it does to endpoints? As seen here

if I'd want to move the other solid I can easily place the marker on the very same

middle edge point I just tried snapping too, funny...

Seperate bodies, yes. Point to point snaps fine but then you also shift sideways

and I dont want that, only along one axis. Thats why I use free move and select only

the arrow which I want to move along but then i cant snap to any other points than the ends.

Same for you or is it just me?

Oh now I see... it's true, you can't snap like that using the free move tool

now that I understand, your only option is to align the body to the middle, and for that you need a plane or a face to align to, and that leads us back to my previous screencast when I made a plan at angle and aligned the body to it

But why not? because when position the free move tool it sure finds all the snappoints. This is something that needs to be fixed, that way it would be much easier and smoother.

I agree you should be able to do this with the move tool. Add it to the idea station and I will vote for it.

There is a way to do this with a joint and the move tool but it should be a lot simpler then it is.

If they would add the ability to constrain along an edge or axis in the move tool then point to point would work fine.

I know this is not the way you want to do it but it is a work around...

Hi Phil

There are alot of workarounds, I know  🙂

Not that I dont get the job done but things you've picked up from other programs

and found useful. This aint some miracle function so I dont see why not use it.

Go on and vote then  Smiley Wink
