Snap to midpoint functionality

For instance, I've a pair of lines that I want parallel and a constrained distance apart.  I'd then like to have them centered on the midpoint of a perpendicular line.  It seems I first have to create some geometry ( a line), constrain it to the midpoint, and then use that to adjust my parallel lines to be centered.   It would be a great deal quicker to be able to simply use a midpoint on the perpendicular line as the input for the constraint and be done with it.

I'm probably approaching this task the hard way, but I'd appreciate any advice on how to accomplish this fundamental task more efficiently.

Otherwise I suppose this issue should be submitted for a feature request.

Hi @smallfavor,

Luckily this exists! If you hold the Shift button and then hover over the line it should snap to the midpoint.

Is this what you were looking for?

Thanks,

Well apparently not.  Here's an attempt to mirror a set of lines but there's no selecting of a midpoint - even the purple point that I can't manage to get rid of.

Christ this is tedious.

Hi @smallfavor,

So you will still need a mirror line to mirror over using that command. The speed trick using the Shift command will be when creating this mirror line. You can press L to quickly bring up the line operation and then holding shift create the mirror line. Then, you can use the mirror function and have all the specified entities be mirrored over that line.

Thanks,
