Smooth transition between 2 bodies

Hi,

Im trying to create a smooth transition between 2 bodies but im not having much luck. Ive attached 2 pictures, one showing my model at present, and the other showing a plan view of the kind of transition i was hoping to achieve. Ive tried the fillet function but that doesnt seem to help. Also thought about trying it in sculpt but the bodies arent accessible in there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your geometry looks questionable. Can you share your model ?

Yeah it probably is a bit iffy as the images im using to recreate it arent as sharp as id like.

Please find attached the model.

Do you have the .stl available you created the canvas from ?

Yes, and it was a pig to work with so i decided to recreate it from scratch. i had posted an earlier question asking for help with it but never managed to figure out how to modify the imported .stl

No worries. I will also only use this as a visual guideline for redesigning, but a 3D (canvas" is batter than 2D images 😉

Would you have the .stl you imported into Fusion 360 not the  .f3d file ?

In genreal I'd like to know what your goal with this model is.

Before I put too much time in it I'd like to know that your expectations are somewhat realistic 😉

Thats pretty much perfect, well done!! I need the base part as well though as that interfaces with the fuselage, see attached picture. One with the canopy on and one with it taken off.

Ive tried looking through your history and i dont understand how you have done it. Any chance we could arrange a chat online and run through this?

Essentially what i want to do is place a foxeer predator fpv (First Person View) camera inside the cockpit so i can use it to help fly the plane. I was planning to create a quick model of that this morning so i could also include a support for it inside the canopy.

@mann.frazer Can you send me the compete model of the plane ?

If file size is a problem I'll share a dropbox folder with you where you can place it.

Ahh, I see. This is the model you purchased. Very nice!

No I don't want to build one myself. But I am interested in modeling it in FUiosn 360.

BTW, based on a video and visualization of the internal structure on their web site I don't think they are using Maya to model these planes. The shell, maybe but not the internal reinforcements.

Internal reinforcements? The "squares" that are shimmering through the shell? In my opinion this is rendered / calculated by the slicer software.

I doubt a slicer can just "calculate: that.

The round parts for sure not. I was talking about this 😉

Edit: But I guess you will do it in F360, too.

No, I would not really design all of that. I am more interested in using surfacing to create the shell and see what hissy fits Fusion 360 throws in doing so

And how after some head banging and strong language I might work around it.

Head over to 3dLabPrint.com there is a big range of similar designs,

His design technique is not explained, and too complicated for me to get my head around,

but for sure the stl files are designed for 3d printing, and not done in or by the slicer.
