Sliding lid with end stops

Hello,

Curious, is it possible to create a sliding lid for a container with end stops? (I don't know the proper wording)  All the dovetail / sliding lid box creations I've seen, the lids detach from the body. I want it to stop when it reaches the front of the box, like a drawer would.

I don't have a design yet, was just thinking about that before I start.

Thanks,

Mike

Sounds possible to me. Once you have a design, share the file and we'll look at it.

A paper/pencil sketch is also a design 😉

This is what I did, I would like the lid to stop sliding at the end so it doesn't fall / come off.

Would Joint Limits with a Rest position work for you?  You can adjust the extent the lid opens by changing the limit values.  Model attached.

Edit: Sorry, I thought you only wanted a way to stop the model slide door from falling out of the track.  I did not read it as to supplying an idea on how to do it in a real application.

Will you 3D Print? Print in place?

@etfrench

I was thinking of something like this, but then I ran into the problem of how I did it just using 3D Printed parts. This is a good idea for another project I am thinking about.

@Warmingup1953

I kept focusing on the channels to stop the lid. Just never thought of the other perspective, the back of the lid having the stop.

Thank you
