Sketching on a curved face

Hi

Im trying to shop draw a curved balustrade. I need to add the posts at a certain dimension, measured on the circumference not in a straight line (I laid tape on the inside of the curve, marked the position of the posts, then laid the tape out flat and measured the dimension).

I cant find a way to draw a line on the face of the curve or offset a line on the face of the curve.

How would you suggest I do this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Let Fusion work it out.

Create > Pattern on a Path.

Use spacing and count.

If you need a demo or further help with your design issue, attach your model.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

@davebYYPCU has already mention the solution, my video will just demonstrate the process and some of the options.

You should make a centre line path from 1st body for how far?, then you can set the Pattern without drama.

This method has worked perfectly for me, however I have one last question...

The posts are not vertical, some of them have a 3-4mm lean from top to bottom, how would you suggest I lean the post once I have set them out using pattern on a path.

Thanks in advance.

You didn't say which way they lean.

That will complicate things, until we know the details.

Patten on Path is not available as a sketch tool, so more detail will be required.  Circular pattern comes to mind.

If all are leaning the same amount, you would do the first, and the Pattern on a Path would still do the job, - so there must be more to deal with.
