Sketches unprotected in other modes/activities

Fusion 360 is a good tool for us. My question is when the sketcher in design module is inactive (NOT editing) and you are in another mode or activity, sketches or sketch elements can be deleted either directly or accidentally. When this occurs, dependent features fail with the error "The profile reference is lost" So why is sketch geometry NOT protected from deletion during activities outside of the sketcher itself? Does one need to need to hide sketches as best practice? During design phase I prefer to keep relevant sketches visible. What functionality does this serve? Thank you.

Hi,

Please make a screencast of this behaviour.

If you delete a sketch that is the basis of an extrusion you will get a warning in the timeline.

Direct manipulation of sketches in model mode, gives live updates to the design, when you become aware of this feature you would not want to lose the functionality.

Delete button and  “Are you sure” warnings should wake you up.

Might help...

Not trying to discount your problem, but want to say that I'm kinda surprised. Been using Fusion about two years now, and I've never once "accidentally" deleted a sketch element, whether in sketch edit more or otherwise. I mean, you'd have to accidentally select it, then accidentally press the delete key on your keyboard, or accidentally right-click on it and accidentally choose Delete from the pop-up menu. And if you had already created a model feature based on the sketch element, you would also have to accidentally click the Okay button on the pop-up dependency warning.

That's quite a series of unfortunate events going on.

You do have the ability to right-click SOME items in the project browser and toggle them unselectable, but unfortunately sketches don't have that setting.
