Sketch lines don't show on the canvas

[Post title edited, and replies merged from duplicate thread by CGBenner 4/12/24]

I asked this earlier but I fear I posted it in the wrong place. It's been a while since I reached out. Please forgive me for repeating myself.

I've drawn a hundred or so of these where I trace around a canvas in order to 3d print a hand tool holder. But now, the sketch lines no longer show up after I click enter. I haven't changed my settings or display options in ages. So whatever is going on is doing it for some other reason. The only way I can see my sketch lines is to turn off the canvas image. I can't finish my sketch because I can't see what I've already drawn. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

in your attached model, neither sketch has a closed profile.  all the sketch articles for a closed profile have to be in the same sketch.

keep in mind, when you edit a sketch, all the sketch articles from previous sketches will be shaded lighter in color to differentiate the current sketch being edited from previous sketches.   those will be harder to see thru the canvas.  I usually sett my canvas to around 10 percent.

as far as the dimensional accuracy of the image goes, an image will always be off in some way.  the pic is a guide, but measurements taken by hand rule supreme.  you can minimize distortion by taking the photo from as far away as possible and zooming in on  the object.  better yet, use an old fashioned bed scanner.

1. "in your attached model, neither sketch has a closed profile.  all the sketch articles for a closed profile have to be in the same sketch." Honesty is the best policy, and honestly, I don't know what you mean in this paragraph. I have 3 sketch lines and all three are connected.

2. "keep in mind, when you edit a sketch, all the sketch articles from previous sketches will be shaded lighter in color to differentiate the current sketch being edited from previous sketches.   those will be harder to see thru the canvas.  I usually sett my canvas to around 10 percent."  Oddly the third line that forms the loop is black while the other two are blue. I have never noticed a difference in fresh sketch lines (the blue ones) and previous lines.

3. "as far as the dimensional accuracy of the image goes, an image will always be off in some way."  I've used flatbed scanners and cameras. The camera shots are usually much better. With regard to dimensional accuracy, I have found the drawings to be remarkable accurate. Assuming the picture is clean and flat and calibrated, the sketch produce a perfectly fitting drawer organizing if one is willing to take the time to follow the outline of the image, just my experience.

screen shot with only sketch1 visible.  no blue profile because you haven't enclosed an area with sketch articles-

both sketches visible.   no blue profile because the sketch articles that enclose the area are in different sketches-

A tool chest tool organizer. I've already made many of them without a hitch.

I would just make a rectangular block around it, do you really want that design or is it ok to be like this?

A third line connects the two other sketches to form a loop. You may not
see it, but I drew it in.

Rectangular block? Not with Fusion 360. Maybe with SketchUp.

a box to put the tool in. If you are hanging it on the wall, then you can just use a hook where you can hang the pliers on.

I'm sorry. I thought I was answering all questions. Yes, I do want this
design. And the dimensions should be correct because I used the calibration
tool. I do this all the time.

Sure, that would work. But Fusion can make a custom holder. I do it all the
time.

not in the model you uploaded.  everything you have in that model I show in the screen shots.  can you take a screen shot showing just one sketch visible AND having a closed loop?

so the problem is that the pliers do not correctly fit into the tool holder.

It's working normally again. I've probably done something wrong. Sorry for
all your trouble.
