Sketch Does Not Extrude

Hi,

I have a sketch from customer - below - and the body of the fish won't extrude. I've tried closing the body in AutoCAD (PEDIT/ JOIN) and made sure all the lines are on the same layer - but it is still not extruding the shape.

Any help appreciated,

Thankyou - Angus

Hi Angus,

First I see that the contour contains double lines.

Sometimes this leads to problems. Then you have to remove the double lines.

By inserting lines, as shown here, I isolate the error.

Hi günther - that is brilliant - thankyou.

Is there a way you were able to spot that the lines were not closed/ joined at the fishes tail? - ie. a quick way of honing in on the error?

Thanks - Angus

On further reading from other forums etc - a couple of things to try are:

  • In AutoCAD - using the PEDIT the JOIN command - increase the FUZZ distance so the distance between the non-connect line ends are within the FUZZ distance.
  • Use the SketchChecker App - as an add in in Fusion 360

Quick test is to draw lines across the profile, if one side shades in, as per the video, then the error is in the non shaded area, the test line/s are deleted when profile is fixed.
