Exporting DWG and F3d

Hello,

I am about to share some of my work with others, so i'd like to export the files.

for Models, this works well with f3d files. where all the workflow is included and one can actually change stuff in the models (unlike a STEp-File)

But i can not get this to work with drawings: when i export a drawing as a DWG file, reupload the exported file and open it, i get weird stuff like the Detail views on the drawings, but as actual Models.

i want the to export (and somebody else) to import raw drawings, where Dimensions can be added.

Is this even possible? what if i'd change the model, could the respective Drawing still be updated?

Please help me out, due to complicated circumstances, using the cloud with several users is not an option

Thanks!

If you export the 2d drawing as a Fusion archive it will download as an f3z file and include the 3d model. You can only download Fusion's 2d drawings from the online Dashboard. If you nned to send a DWG to someone without Fusion they can only edit it with AutoCAD by the way.

Aha!

I learned that you can download your files from A360, even as a cross-referenced file with drawing and assembly and yadda yadda.

BUT:

that doesnt work. if i download a whole folder with multiple assemblies, models and drawings, it creates a ZIP file for some time, which turns out to be completely empty once opened.

any advice???

If you download an assembly file it will include all the linked files it uses. Also downloading a 2d drawing made from an assembly file it will include the 3d assembly and all linked files. There is no way to download an entire directory, I've asked about it a few time but not got a good answer why. All you could do is make an assembly file containing all the individual designs in the directory.

but it seems like this should be possible:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/view-all-files-view-by-creation-modificati...

i also tried opera and chrome, but all my downloaded files are empty.

If you read that thread carefully you'll see that all that's exported is data in the folder that's NOT a Fusion design. If you upload several stp files for example they will be in the zip file but no native Fusion design will be. Seems like quite an oversite. Several people have asked how to export part libraries they've built and there no way apart from making an assembly file and inserting one of each of the designs then download the assembly.

hmm, thats not very satisfying...

i was able to download an assembly containing all relevant parts, using a f3z file. but where are my drawings?????

how can i get those drawings?

im struggling for several hours now trying to merge data with fusion, and i was about to punch my screen, even though its not his fault.... (seriously, the frustration level is critical at this point)

all i want is a file, that i can upload into a fusion account, that contains a drawing of a model, that i can alter. Cherry on top would be if model and drawing still would be linked, that if i change a model, the drawing would also update.

is this really not feasible??????

why cant i toggle the download button when it comes to drawings??? see attchet print screen...

i can download a single drawing as an archive file, only to receive an email 15 minutes later. but i got dozens of drawings, so this will be way to timeconsuming, and if i download a whole folder as an archive file, the folder is completely empty after download! am i trying to breach some autodesk restrictions? is this so complicated on purpose?????

can anybody out there help me, please?

i managed to download a drawing of a model.

but this one-model-at-the-time thing, are you serious? this leaves way too much space for human error in the process. what if someone decides to make a local backup of, say, a gazillion files?

could please some autodesk supporter help me out with maybe a teamviewer session? really, this is incredible frustrating

why is there no option to download a whole project as an archive file???? well, there is, but i only manage to download empty folders?

@innovatenate is there any work being done on this. There have been a few posts where people have made libraries and there's no easy way to export an entire folder or project, you can't even share a project and copy\move the contents.

Thanks Mark

Try DownloadMaster. I had same problem with downloading files from fusion 360 lessons with edge or chrome. Only zip. But if I copy link from lessons and use DM I download f3d !
