sketch dimensions

hi everybody

first of all i want to thank all of you for the job you are doing in this helpful topics

in the sketch level i want to dimension the overall lenght of a shape made of a rectangle with an arc on the top of the small side and can't put this dimesion

all what i can do is to dimension the distance from the  center of the arc to the bottom side of the rectangle unless i create a line from the center of the arc crossing the arc so i get a point on the top of the arc so i can put over all dimension of the total lenght( rectangle + arc)

is there a way to do it without  the line? easily done in all the cad systems i have been using so far

thanks

Hi

Unfortunately, we don’t have a direct way to add such dimension at present. It could be a nice request for our Ideastation

Another workaround would be just creating a point constrained to the midpoint of the arc, then we would have a point to add dimension.

@Anonymous as @NicolasXu says it can't be done yet, it has been brought up a number of times it is going to be done in the next year or so.

one thing you can do is put a radious on the arc, this will give you the mesurment of the arc, the centre of the arc is the white dot in @NicolasXu sketch.

I am doing a screen cast on this.

here is a work around and a fast way to do a line to radius back to a line https://youtu.be/6lgAPxGJqC0. if you wanted the length of the line plus radius(arc) to be say 100 mm with a radius of 20 mm you can do a user parameters for the arc and the line measurement can be line length - radius (arc) what would give you a line 80 mm long with a 20 mm radius on the arc.
