Sketch Dimensions problems

I have been getting weird results when I try to add dimensions to a sketch, unrelated lines moving or overconstrained errors. Here is a screencast of adding lines and trying to dimension them. http://autode.sk/1PwRErv

Thanks for posting.  Would it be possible to share the design?  I think I understand what is going on, but working with the model itself would let us be sure.

What I think is happening is:  Here in the screencast, at 0:07, it looks like this line terminates at an existing point:

dimension error.png

If that point is a midpoint, or otherwise constrained, then it cannot move, which would explain why the dimension fails.

Here is the link to share http://a360.co/1hcV0EP I don't think it has anything to do with a midpoint or visible constraint, it doesn't matter where I put the line or dimension, unrelated lines still move. Here is another screencast example using a circle. http://autode.sk/1hcVMBN

Hi,

I downloaded the file and can not reproduce the problem showing in the video. Probably I missed something?

thanks

I can't open the file now, dialog box says the path is not a valid zip package. The link I posted takes me to a display window with nothing visible and when I download the file and try to open it I get Opening of local files not supported error. Since you can open the file and it works correctly I guess the problem is with my system. I will try reinstalling fusion.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Fusion 360, no changes still can't open file.

Uninstalling Fusion should only be done when the program will not start. If you are having issues with Fusion and re-install you will likely wipe out the diagnostic logs that help us diagnose your problems.

From your description it sounds like you are trying to open your own file locally. Is your file not in your Fusion 360 projects? You should find it in your data panel on the left side.

Thanks,

It is in the data panel but when I double click on it to open it I get an error message. I saved my error logs before uninstalling. I started over on a new file and after an hour I got errors popping up saying autosave failed, then my model turned black.

Did you do a clean uninstall using the instructions in the read-me? Sounds like you did not. If that is true, you should do a full uninstall and reinstall and let me know how that goes.

When you say your model turned black, do you mean all the surfaces on the model? This is a known graphics problem. Can you post your graphics diagnostic information here? Also, please let us know how many monitors you are running.

Thanks,

I didn't do the clean uninstall, I will try it. Here is the graphics diagnostics [GPU Information]GPU Device: AMD Radeon HD 6620GGPU RAM: 512 MBGPU Driver API: DirectX 9.0GPU Driver Verison: 8.17.10.1404GPU Driver Date: 08/04/2015
[Graphics Effects Settings]Anti Aliasing: OffAmbient Occlusion: OffObject Shadow: OffGround Shadow: OffGround Reflection: OffSelection Display Style: SimpleTransparency Effect: Better Performance
[Notes]1. If you see any graphics display abnormalities, updating to the latest graphics card drivers could help resolve them; please check with your GPU vendors to download and install the latest graphics card drivers.
2. The effects could slow down the graphics rendering; try to limit them for optimum performance.
[Limit all effects to provide optimum performance]On
The surfaces of the model turned black with some additional black boxes appearing and fading to grey on some surfaces. The picture of the file in the data tray looks different from the open file, it has additional black triangles and squares. I was using two monitors when or before it turned black, normally I use one monitor.

The clean uninstall solved the issues. Thanks. As a note for others doing a clean uninstall, some of the files that need to be deleated were named a little diffrently from the instructions, for example AdExDbManager was Autodesk application manager. Also I had to open task manager and stop the autodesk software in order to delete some files.

Glad that worked for you. I've contacted the READ ME team and let them know to update the instructions.

Looking at your GPU specs you are at the very minimum, at 512 MB, especially for two monitors. I would expect that two monitors will be too much for this GPU. If you see the black display using only one monitor please let us know.

Thanks,
