Single Line Font is Invisible

Greetings,

I was able to upload some true single line fonts into F360. I can add the font when designing and can trace the font in manufacture. The issue is that the font isn’t visible in either area.

In the design tab, the text editor appears, I add my text and choose my single line font. It’s not really visible.

In the manufacture tab, if I keep clicking around it will grab the geometry to trace, but again I can’t see it.

When I run the simulation, it cuts along the path and looks fine.

How do I make it visible in the design tab, so I can make sure the positioning is correct?

Thank you all for the wonderful community that has helped me come along way.

Hi,

try:

rightclick > Explode (convert to path)

Thank you so much for taking time to respond to me.  Explode text does make the font visible, however I can’t seem to reposition the words after exploding the text.  Maybe I’m missing something simple (I hope)

When you Explode Text, the text turns green.  This indicates the text has a Fixed sketch constraint on it.  While in the sketch, select it all with a Window and then select the Fix/Unfix sketch constrain to remove the green.  You can then move it.

Now I exploded the text and clicked fixed/unfixed and I’m able to position the words. Thank you both for the assistance!  The issue now is in the manufacture tab.  When I select the geometry, I need to select every little section of each letter. Is there a way to “recombine” the word or another way to select the tool path, without selecting each section?

Hi,

Create the text in a single sketch and select the entire sketch instead of individual outlines.

Hi g,

I’m almost there. When I select the single sketch it’s grabbing both the letters in sketch 2 and the outline of sketch 1.   Please see picture.

You might get away without exploding the text if you hide the body while working on the text. Also the environment makes a difference as well.

This is the River Rubicon environment.

And this with the text selected.

as recommended in # 6

Create your text in a text-only sketch.

Please bear with me, I’m very new to fusion. If I just create a sketch with the text, how do I marry it to the stock?  Maybe I just answered my own question. Can I create text only and add the stock in the manufacture tab?

Maybe a video will help you out.

I thought I was doing what was seen in the video, but it's selecting more than the text.  Thank you for having a look

You issue is caused by the Fusion 360 Preference setting that Projects the outside plate edges into the sketch when the sketch is started.  You can simply delete these extra lines as I did in the video.  If you are interested in turning this Preference off, the screen capture will show you where the switch is.  You will uncheck the indicated box.

Your select tool is not appropriate for the Trace operation you are trying to do so I selected a 6mm chamfer tool.

Thank you so much for that explainer video.  I wanted to get through all the steps that my original question was about.  A different font will need to be picked for that size tool.
