Hello, I am new to Autodesk and am following it's various courses on the Autodesk academy and on coursera. I have hit a snag and am unable to move past it.
After completing the simulation constraints, mesh and loads. The study pre check dialog shows a yellow exclamation mark. Upon clicking it, fusion says "Warning: It appears that one or more of the physical materials is intended for Nonlinear analysis. Ensure the Basic Properties are correct for the current analysis type.

Click here to select 'Study Materials' to set a material."

Upon selecting the option to rectify it, I am redirected to the study materials page. I don't get it I have selected the materials for the base plate and shaft accordingly, yet I keep coming across this error.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for contacting us about your issue.

Let me clarify that it is not an error. (An error would prevent the analysis from providing results.) It is even misleading to classify it as a warning. (A warning usually indicates that something is likely wrong in the analysis, but the analysis did produce some results.) I would classify the message as "Information" about your setup.

The message is indicating that you are setting up the model for a linear analysis, but the material you selected has properties for a linear AND nonlinear analysis. Are you sure you want to perform a linear analysis?

  • If the answer is yes, then run the analysis. (I am 99% confident that you will get results with this material.)
  • If the answer is no, then you can change the analysis type to nonlinear static to take advantage of the nonlinear material properties.

In other words, the material has more properties entered than what will be used in the analysis. So what? Almost every material has material properties that are not used in the analysis (such as thermal conductivity Smiley Happy.)

Let us know if your results do not make sense after you run the analysis.
