I'm encountering a persistent and frustrating error when trying to run a simulation (Static Stress study) in Fusion 360, and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on it or offer a solution.
The exact error message I receive is:
EX-4 v2: Simulation Model 1 - Study 1 - Static Stress _____ 2025-06-24 14:05:26 _____ Starting solve Error: Unable to start the solve - {"id":"34936d9c-6e61-4de5-a669-db7d20d338eb","code":500002,"codeString":"ErrInternalServerErrorUnknown","message":"Unknown Error","developerMessage":"Unknown Error (NO DB)","moreInfo":{"details":"WRONGTYPE Operation against a key holding the wrong kind of value"}} Error: Unable to start the solve as we couldn't create the job on the cloud
Key details and what I've tried:
- Unique to my account: This is the most puzzling aspect. I'm currently at university, and all my classmates using Fusion 360 on the same network are able to run simulations without any issues. This suggests the problem is specific to my account or my model's interaction with the cloud, rather than a general service outage or network problem.
- Autodesk Health Dashboard: I've checked the Autodesk Health Dashboard, and it shows no reported outages or degradation for Fusion 360 or its cloud simulation services.
- Basic Troubleshooting:
- Restarted Fusion 360.
- Restarted my computer.
- Checked my internet connection (stable).
- Verified my cloud credit/token settings in Fusion 360 Preferences.
- Tried running Fusion 360 as administrator.
- Confirmed system time is synchronized.
- Cache Clearing:
- I've cleared the in-app Fusion 360 cache via Help > Support and Diagnostics > Clear Cache Data.
- I also manually went to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk and moved/renamed relevant folders to force a complete rebuild of the local cache upon restart.
- Model Specific Attempts:
- The issue occurs with my primary model (a [brief description, e.g., complex assembly with many components]).
- I tried creating a very simple test model (e.g., a basic cube) and running a static stress simulation on it, but the same "WRONGTYPE" error occurred. This leads me to believe it's not specific to the complexity or geometry of my main design, but rather something with my account's ability to initiate any cloud solve.
- I have tried "dirtying" my main model (making a small change and re-saving) and saving it as a new version.
- I have also tried exporting my model as an F3Z and re-importing it into a new design.
The "WRONGTYPE Operation against a key holding the wrong kind of value" message, especially with "(NO DB)" and "ErrInternalServerErrorUnknown," seems to point to a database issue on Autodesk's cloud side, but if it's only affecting my account, I'm at a loss for further troubleshooting steps on my end.
Has anyone encountered this specific "WRONGTYPE" error before, especially when others are unaffected? Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated before I contact Autodesk support directly.
Thank you in advance for your help!
