Simple Ladder design....Best approach

Long time Autocad 2006 user and I just recently switched to fusion. I typically do simple 2D drawings from hand sketches for the shop to build. Nothing very complicated.

Here is what I am tasked with. 6' 6" tall ladder and a 8' tall ladder. Rung spacing is 12". I need to put a couple holes in the ladder stringer for bolting a standoff to which in turn gets bolted to the concrete wall. This would take me about 15 minutes to draw and detail in 2006. Going on day 2 with Fusion.

My biggest question is how do I modify a extrusion? You can see from my attached file that the rung is coming through the second stringer. The inside dimension is 16" yet it shows the rungs being 16.375"?

I know its not terribly complicated and if I see the proper way to draw this thing it will probably click.

Thanks,

Brock

I am not going to go into detail, but -

Approach this more like you were out on the shop floor building the model.

Use Components

Fully define your sketch(es).

Pattern features, bodies or components rather than sketch elements.

Once you figure out how to model components this will all go very fast.

Consider realistic clearances modeled into the components as you go.

Now someone else will come along and walk you through in more detail...

I really appreciate you doing that! It helps a ton. I watched some tutorials on bodies vs components yesterday and then watching your video it makes way more sense.

Depending on your intent, it might make MORE sense to just do the 6-6 ladder in one file, save it, save-AS again with a new file name, change the height and the rung pattern quantity, and save one last time.

In this way you will get one file with the 6-6 ladder, and one file with the 8-0 ladder.
